Volunteering for Service

Serving is a great way to connect with others. As you work side by side to provide ministry at First Christian Church or touch the lives of others in our community, you will develop lasting friendships. There are many areas in which to serve. Our youth and children’s ministries depend on caring adults to build relationships and assist with programming. Through our missions team opportunities include such things as a neighborhood food drive, a ministry that provides assistance to people in our community with cancer or mission trips to other countries. There are a multitude of ways to serve on Sunday mornings, from greeters and musicians to nursery volunteers.

All Saints Sunday Nov. 4th – During Sunday’s service, there will be a table for remembrances — where you are welcome to bring photos and / or small mementos of loved ones who have passed.  There will also be an opportunity to light a candle during the service.

Faith Action Network Sunday– Sunday, Nov. 11th, we are honored to have Paul Benz from Faith Action Network will bring us our message.  Later, we will be hosting the Cluster Meeting.  You can learn more about Faith Action Network and register for the Cluster Meeting here.

Advent begins Dec. 2nd –  We will again be offering an Advent Devotional. This year, the worship team has selected “I am Mary”, by Rev. Carol Howard Merritt.  “Join young Mary as she experiences the surprise, confusion, fear, anticipation, and blessing that follows her brave response to God’s call: “Here am I, Lord.” Listen carefully, and you may hear that call in your own life.”

Hanging of the Greens – This year, we will work our Christmas magic and transform every part of the Church for Christmas on Wednesday, Nov. 28th!  We’re getting things ready in time for our first Fridays at the First noon concert on the 30th! We will be working again under the leadership of our own Head-Elf, Rachel! She will once again work her magic and transform not only the sanctuary, but the whole church! Come join us for fun, festivities & food! Of course, there will be Christmas Carols to sing along with as we work!
