First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)
OUR VISION: WORSHIPING GOD IN WORD AND DEED in Olympia, Washington

The first two items of business occupied most of the October 17 meeting.

New Beginnings

The Board approved our congregation's participation in the New Beginnings study.  We will be notified in early November regarding information and materials that need to be gathered and sent to Church Extension prior to our first meeting with the consultant in early January, 2008.  Karen Nye will be the primary contact for this service.  Elaine Ulry and Judy Bushell will lead a team to research our congregational profile and our financial reports.

The fee for this service is $1600.00.  We are awaiting further information on payment options.

Camp Quixote

The Board approved continuing our congregation's discussions of hosting Camp Quixote.  The first informational session with guest was held October 14.  Leah Wilson and Jim Dick fielded questions at the Potluck Sunday, October 21.  One other informational session is scheduled for Sunday, November 4.  The Board determined that we must have help from at least one other congregation.  Several congregations are being contacted in this regard.

The congregation will be asked to make a decision whether or not to host the camp at a special congregational meeting immediately following worship on Sunday, November 18.  You will be asked two questions:

  1. Is God calling this congregation to host Camp Quixote in partnership with at least one other congregation at some time in the future?
  2. Is God calling this congregation to host Camp Quixote beginning in January, 2008?

Thanksgiving Dinner

The Board approved the use of our facilities for Barb O'Neill's Thanksgiving Dinner.  Joyce Gillie and Helena Wilson will coordinate the operation.
