Discussion or Decision

  • Nomination Task Force – Karen Nye reporting
    • There are co-coordinators for Deed, Property and Word.  The ballots are due by June 8.

  • Newsletter – Judy Gregorius reported that the newsletter will be issued only once a month in June, July and August.  The newsletter will be published the last Monday of the month.

  • Water availability in the sanctuary building – (Karen reporting for Leah Wilson)
    • Since the water fountain is not operating it was suggested that we consider installing a water cooler. The part necessary to repair the current water fountain is not available due to its age.  Discussion included the cost of the water cooler and possibility of purchasing a new water fountain.
    • This item was passed on to the Property Task Force.

  • Budget Review – Judy Bushell
    • Judy presented the budget proposal developed by the Board at it’s May 9th meeting.
    • She highly recommended that we present a 6 month budget because of our New Beginnings program, understanding that things may look different in 6 months.
    • After discussion it was decided that we present a three column budget: a July – December column, a January – June column and a July 2008 – June 2009 budget.  The accompanying statement would explain that due to the New Beginnings we may need to redistribute funds for the second 6 months of the 2008-2009 budget.

  • Board members were reminded that the annual report is due.

  • Congregational Meeting – June 8

    • Results of the nomination committee – ballots will be counted just before the Congregational Meeting
    • Presentation of the budget by Judy Bushell

  • New Beginnings – Karen Nye
    • The final report of the Cottage Meetings Compilation is ready for presentation to the congregation. Karen indicated that all of the cottage groups came to basically the same decision. The report will be included in the June newsletter.  This report will be presented to the congregation on June 1, during worship.  Further discussion of the report will be held during worship on June 22 in Koinonia Hall.
    • Karen and Mary joined a conference call with the other New Beginnings churches in the region.

  • Word – Nancy Nelson
    • June 8 will be a time to honor Joanne Goodwin and Joyce Smith for their service with the children. There will also be an open house to view the new classrooms upstairs.
    • June 10 will be an orientation for people who would like to work with the children during the summer program.

  • Property – Jim Brown
    • Jim indicated he had worked with the insurance company to correct an error in the last billing.

  • Deacons – Nancy King
    • Plans for the coming year include choosing 4 teams of deacons to serve, each with a captain.  The members of each team will confirm with the captain when it is their time to serve.

  • Personnel – Elaine Ulry
    • Elaine presented a job description for the Interim Organist.  This will fill the position of organist until a Music Director/Organist can be found.

  • Pastor – Mary Olney Loyd
    • Mary presented a written report.
    • She also reported that Fair Trade Coffee is available through the synagogue.  She has brochures explaining the processing of this coffee.

  • Financial Report – Judy Bushell
    • Judy reported that we are holding our own on our current budget.
    • The electrical and garbage expenses for Camp Quixote while they we were hosting them totaled $723.17.  Donations for this purpose totaled $1480.00.  The balance will be passed on to the  Panza group for assistance to other churches hosting the camp.
